The July 25th Council Meeting for the Rural Land Use Strategy has come to an end and though the outcome may not be exactly what we had hoped for, I want to emphasize that our journey is far from over.
The meeting concluded with a vote of 5-4 against the current format of the Rural Land Use Strategy.
Today’s Council meeting was an eye-opener for us. It became evident that the Councillors disregarded the evidence pointing to potential harm from the current format of the Rural Land Use Strategy. And despite almost 500 people from our community signing the petition to express opposition, our voices appeared to be ignored. It felt as if they had already made up their minds before the meeting even started.
